| Requirements and Responsibilities For Civil Engineering Manager |
| Manages a team of civil engineers and oversees their projects. Reviews cost reports, time sheets, equipment records, engineering reports, and project construction schedules to maintain overall schedules and ensure work is completed on time. Ensures quality control and safety policies are strictly observed. Maintains relationships with team members, clients, and subcontractors. Assesses new potential projects and briefs civil engineers on new worksites and projects. Has extensive engineering knowledge and experience. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
