| Requirements and Responsibilities For Managed Care Manager |
| Manages the team responsible for reviewing and negotiating managed care contracts. Coordinates utilization reviews and evaluates financial impacts to support contract negotiations and maintain care quality. Identifies patterns in service use and recommends strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses. Tracks financial outcomes, stays current on policy updates, manages contract records, and prepares reporting. Ensures that patient care delivered to members meets quality standards and complies with applicable regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
