Requirements and Responsibilities For Safety Manager |
Manages an organization's safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote occupational safety and prevent workplace accidents. Analyzes safety metrics to evaluate and track program performance, identify trends, and ensure operational alignment with safety objectives. Implements processes and standards to inspect and audit the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements. Oversees incident investigations to determine root causes, develop preventative measures, and prepare safety reports for management. Organizes safety trainings, meetings, and orientations to ensure adequate understanding of risks and safety protocols. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
