Requirements and Responsibilities For Traffic Supervisor |
Supervises an organization's transportation, freight pricing, and logistics operations. Develops transportation and demand metrics to forecast and manage peak demand periods and avoid delays or bottlenecks. Evaluates freight costs and classifications, delivery methods, and delivery schedules to determine optimal routes and modes of transportation. Monitors and reviews charges and researches industry trends and competitors to determine profitable and fair service rates. Develops and updates rate calculations to forecast various scenarios and impacts on costs and expenditures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. |
