| Requirements and Responsibilities For Power Line Maintenance Manager |
| Manages the installation, maintenance, and inspection programs for overhead and underground power lines to ensure safe, reliable electric distribution and transmission service. Directs the planning and scheduling of construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration activities across assigned service territories. Establishes work standards, operating procedures, and performance metrics, and ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and reliability requirements. Manages departmental budgets, staffing, equipment, and materials, and oversees contractor performance on line work projects. Analyzes outage data, inspection findings, and reliability trends to guide maintenance strategies, capital planning, and asset improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
